WOOD BROTHERS FORD THUNDERBIRD TO BE CAMPAIGNED IN HISTORIC STOCK CAR RACING SERIES
Jon & Marie Jordan of Santa Rosa, CA announce the arrival of historic Banjo Matthews NASCAR formerly campaigned by the world famous Wood Brothers of Stuart, Virginia. This was Neil Bonnett’s super speedway ride in 1990 until his near fatal crash that year at Darlington Raceway. Future NASCAR® champion, Dale Jarrett then assumed the ride for the remainder of the 1990 and entire 1991 season. This is the actual chassis that Dale drove to his very first NASCAR® victory at Michigan on August 18, 1991. Career earning for the car exceeded $620,000.
Jon, an experienced SCCA road racer, recently expressed his pleasure at moving up into the historic stock car ranks: “Although I have driven cars with almost as much power, it’s a real thrill to be able to own and drive a car that has this much history and memories behind every nut and bolt.”
Jon’s plans for the recently acquired 21 Citgo Wood Brothers Ford Thunderbird include running it in the Historic Stock Car Racing Series (HSCRS.com) whose members/owners are committed to showcase the cars, and the drivers, that made NASCAR® what it is today. Historic Stock Car events on the schedule include races at various west coast tracks including Laguna Seca, Fontana, Phoenix International Speedway, Miller Motorsports Park, Portland International, Reno-Fernley Raceway, Thunderhill, and Sonoma’s own Infineon Raceway.
