HSCRS News![]() K&N West Series Released: September 15th, 2010 The June Sprint Cup race at Infineon raceway is one of only two road course races that NASCAR sanctions for The Sprint Cup. For those of us in Northern California it is the only chance that we get to see these great cars and drivers, up close and personal. This year two of our members had the opportunity to drive in the K&N Series West race which was held on Saturday. Garland Self has had the opportunity to drive in this great event for the past several years, but for John Davis this was his debut, driving with the professionals. During qualifying on Friday Garland easily qualified in the 29th spot and John qualified 30th. This set the stage for the race on Saturday. By the way pro drivers like Boris Said and David Ruettman were on the grid. The race it self was quite exciting with Garland and John changing places several times. Unfortuneatly John was given a penalty for pit speed which put him a lap down. Undeterred John fought his way back and got back on the leaders lap by getting a "luck dog" pass through. When the dust had settled Garland finished 14th with John coming in at 19th. A great showing for two of our own. Congratulations! This article last modified: September 15th, 2010 |
